About DOGE

Dog owners within Glen Eira Council area have long felt they have not had a fair go with Council, which is why the group “Dogs of Glen Eira” (DOGE) was formed.

DOGE believes that Council needs to review open space within Glen Eira and put in place a sensible and responsible planning scheme that meets the needs of both dog owners and non dog owners. Check our maps page to see how much little 'legal' space there is for dogs in our parks.

According to Council’s own Recreational Needs Study 45% of respondents used Glen Eira parks to exercise their dog(s), making dog walkers the largest single group using parks. Yet Council constantly mention the competing needs of other parks users, particularly sporting groups. According to the same survey, the percentage of residents playing cricket was 5% andAFL 4%.

Why do the needs of the largest single group of park users always come last?
